Kpop Kollection

Kpop Kollection is a mobile app for K-pop fans to track and display their photo card collections by group, album, or era. It features a dreamy pastel theme and an intuitive, user-friendly design. The app is currently being rebranded to improve functionality, visual consistency, and prototyping. It aims to create a fun, organized space for collectors to manage and showcase their albums.

About the Project

Kpop Kollection was originally developed in 2021 as a personal project aimed at helping K-pop fans organize and keep track of their photo card collections. The app allowed users to sort their cards by group, album, or era, offering a simple and fun way to visualize their collection. While the concept was strong, the original version had limitations in branding, design consistency, and overall user experience.

In 2024, the app was fully redesigned with a fresh vision. The rebrand introduced a dreamy pastel fantasy theme, updated typography, and a cleaner, more modern UI. Functionality was expanded to make navigation easier, visuals more engaging, and interactions more intuitive. The redesign also included plans for a one-page brand guide, improved prototyping, and thoughtful UX enhancements to better meet the needs of fans and collectors.

Problem

Outdated Visual Design

The original app, built in 2021, had a basic layout and older design trends that didn’t reflect the modern aesthetic K-pop fans are drawn to.

Lack of Interactivity

The app had limited user engagement. Users could view their collections but couldn’t interact with the interface in meaningful ways, like swiping, tapping, or customizing layouts.

Weak Brand Identity

The app lacked a cohesive brand look and feel. There was no defined color palette, typography system, or emotional connection to K-pop culture, which made it less memorable.

Solution

Redesigned the Visual Language

The 2024 redesign introduced a dreamy pastel theme, updated fonts, and modern UI components to better align with current design trends and appeal to the target audience.

Added Interactive Elements

You improved usability by adding tappable cards, hover effects (for web previews), transitions, and smoother flows—making the app feel more alive and fun to use.

Developed a Clear Brand System

You created a one-page brand guide including colors, typography, and icon styles. This brought consistency across the app and helped shape a stronger identity rooted in the K-pop fandom aesthetic.
